Each fall, FSSGB sponsors a weekend in a tranquil setting within easy driving distance of Boston. The weekend is filled with music -- song swaps, workshops and mini-concerts led by professional staff and campers on Saturday and Sunday. The Fall Getaway gives campers a chance to meet each other, trade songs and tunes, and enjoy a relaxing weekend away from the city.
Please get your registration form (in PDF format) to us by September 17th - or call or email by that date to let us know you're coming. (The camp requires 3 weeks notice from us.) If you post your registration by Sept. 3, you can take advantage of the reduced earlybird rates! If you can't meet the registration deadline, please email fgw AT fssgb DOT org so we can have an accurate meal count, and an idea how many people might attend the workshops.

The next Fall Getaway Weekend will be held October 9-11, 2010 (Saturday through Monday of Columbus Day Weekend) at Prindle Pond Conference Center in Charlton, MA. Staff members include Kim Wallach and Brian O'Donovan.
In a pure, clear voice tempered by whimsical humor, Kim Wallach sings and writes of the joys and woes of contemporary life. Her warm and engaging performances are highlighted by her subtle guitar accompaniment. Her songs guide listeners to other times and places, and a wry recognition of life's foibles. Kim's musical roots go back to her activist parents' house in New Jersey, and the folk revival of the '50s & '60s. Through her college studies with poets Richard Wilbur and Robert Pinsky, and with the Scottish traditional singer Jean Redpath, she gained respect for the fine crafting of words and melody, and the enduring resonance of the old ballads. In addition to her solo career, Kim Wallach performs and records as a member of the Short Sisters, with Kate Seeger and Fay Baird. The trio is known for intricate and powerful harmony singing. Kim has performed throughout the U.S., and her songs are sung coast-to-coast.
Brian O'Donovan was born and raised in Clonakilty in West Cork, Ireland. He knew he would leave eventually and after graduating university, headed for England and eventually Boston, where he had intended to stay for 3 weeks. That was 29 years ago! He has since committed himself to his first loves of music production and public broadcasting. For more than 13 years, O'Donovan has established a distinctive niche in Boston radio by playing traditional Celtic, largely Irish music for the faithful listeners of "Celtic Sojourn."
