This way to FSSGB

Folk Song Society of Greater Boston response to Coronavirus (COVID-19)

We recognize that we are in a time of increased risk of transmission of COVID-19 virus. The FSSGB Board will continue to monitor the situation, but in the meantime here are some things to keeping in mind.

The current guidance from the CDC is that we all avoid group gatherings for the time being. We are partnering with other concert promoters in the area to get as many concerts as possible streamed online, and we and other concert promoters will collect online donations to help support the performers. We’ll provide a link on our website to share information about online concerts.

We do not yet know which of our upcoming concerts and workshops will need to be cancelled or rescheduled, or shifted to an online format. Please keep an eye on the website and email for updates.

All FSSGB singing parties have been cancelled until further notice. We encourage you to keep singing — in the shower, out the window to (and with!) your neighbors, in big open spaces with friends (keeping a distance of 6’ between you!) Some folks are exploring options for group singing over online technologies (Facetime, Skype, etc.) We’ll share information about this as it comes along.

Please try to support your favorite artists, who will be losing much or all of their income for the forseeble future. Buy their CDs, support them on Patreon.com (if they have accounts there), attend livestreamed concerts and make online donations if a mechanism is in place to do so.

Thank you for your support of the local folk music community! Thank you for your patience as this situation unfolds and we determine our best way forward.

Update 3/7/20: The CDC now recommends that people over 60 avoid crowds:
